Variable Balans Kneeling Chair by Peter Opsvik

USA, 1979

Variable Balans kneeling chair designed by Peter Opsvik for Stokke. This chair is very comfortable- a great low-profile chair to use as a task chair.

As the name 'variable' indicates, the chair offers movement and variation- the kneeling posture is one of many. The two separate knee pads facilitate switching among different leg positions.Like with all other chairs, it is important to use it actively, changing sitting angle and sitting position. Variable is an excellent chair for conscious users who like to sit 'actively', finding the proper equilibrilium for their upper bodies and for their heads. By sitting 'actively', users can strengthen their back and abdominal muscles. It is the muscles and not the spine that is to bear the weight of the upper body.

CONDITION NOTES: Chair has been newly reupholstered in Maharam Tonica by Kvadrat in a neutral grey colorway. It also received all new foam. Original frame has some light scratches and age appropriate wear.
