USA, 1950s
An exceptional sofa after Dorothy Draper with exposed mahogany frame and scrolled armrests on saber-shaped legs with brass sabots. This is a piece to build a room around. Unmarked, we
purchased it from the family of the original owner, who purchased it just after getting married, believed to have been in the 1950s. They said she had it reupholstered once in the current fabric,
which is a beautiful quilted print with great colors.
The current fabric is in very good overall condition and has quite modern color, pattern, and style. The foam on the sofa body has begun to stiffen and crunch in some parts. The cushions are down
filled but have lost much of their body and are very squishy. The frame is in overall very good original condition with no chipping or gouging, but it would benefit from restoration and then look
spectacular. The frame at this point has just ever so slightest of looseness, to be expected with age, which should eventually be serviced. A special piece.
DIMENSIONS: 83.5" w X 34" d x 32.5" overall height; Arm Height 28.5" H; Body of Sofa is 20" H.
