Elegant 'Modern Originals' desk and chair in walnut designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb. This desk has a really excellent medium scale- not a giant executive desk- not a student
desk. The chair has a generous proportion. Two planes on the top surface bring visual interest and the single conical leg is striking from all angles- visually lightening the desk from its
plinth base pedestal. Right pedestal has a large amount of storage and a pull out writing surface. Dated 11/51 on the bottom of one drawer.
The desk is in overall very good condition. There are a few 1 cm wide circles that are the darker, original walnut color on the right surface- from something sitting on top of the desk and
protecting the original color from fading. The chair looks to have been re-glued at some point and it is a little wobbly. This design is very exciting compared to other designs from this series
by Robsjohn-Gibbings and a rare design. Includes desk and chair.
