Walnut Credenza designed by George Nakashima for Widdicomb

USA, 1960s

Walnut credenza designed by George Nakashima for Widdicomb. The cabinet is slim and the front appears to be one piece, but actually contains four doors across its length. There are hidden brass pulls on each door (beneath the protruding top lip) that can be used to open the doors (once you know they are there). The top plank protrudes from the case along the top and is slightly uplifted; it has a nice joinery detail that is visible at each side. A vertical patterning to the walnut door fronts adds very nice rhythm and variation to the piece. The base is a matching walnut plinth. Even the interior of the cabinet is composed out of beautiful selections of walnut. Each side of the cabinet has an adjustable shelf. Even nicer in person.

The matching hutch to this piece is also available either together or separately.

CONDITION NOTES: General light marks to the surfaces. A few paint marks on the surface. Overall in very good condition- presents very nicely.

DIMENSIONS: 66" W x 16" D x 28.75" H to the top of the curved lip at the front; cabinet height is 28 3/8" H. Cabinet depth is 15" (lip extends the front to 16").

Each side of the interior measures 31.5" W x 23" H x 13.25" D with the doors closed (interior space measurement).
